There was a very old family home in poor condition on a 1800 sq.m. plot in the old city. There was a huge Banyan and other large trees on the plot and the owners were loath to leave this oasis and move to the suburbs. A sprawling single storey house was designed using the old foundations as far as possible. There wasn’t the usual concern for security and we could have large verandas opening into the garden. It is a simple load bearing brick structure with a coloured metal sheet roof with insulated polished wood ceiling supported on a steel structure.
