Another project for Saumya Construction, with bungalows in 400 sq. m and 1000 sq. m plots. 'Bungalow', a vestige of the British Raj, used to be surrounded by large gardens. The plots shrank with rising prices, but laws requiring useless strips of a minimum 3m open space around buildings remained, along with aspirations of buyers for an 'Independent bungalow'. In house type 1 (400 sq. m plot) the marginal space on one side was removed and added to the rear garden, whilst creating a large double height glass-brick covered courtyard into which the whole house opens. Noboby wanted it initially, a sample house was built - then everyone!
